Kuala Lumpur is the representative of all that Malaysia is and all that it is trying to become. The blend of the rich historical past and the modern gleaming present is evident in all aspects of Kuala Lumpur. Nowhere is this beguiling contrast better exemplified than in the magnificent Kuala Lumpur hotels. Kuala Lumpur has all kinds of hotels from tiny and large budget hotels to the expensive luxury ones. These hotels are the best base to explore the bounties of Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur is centered on the Independence Square or the Datran Merdeka. Around this area is a wonderful mix of architectures blending in to the Kuala Lumpur skyline. There are wonderful colonial buildings of the Royal Selangor Club and the Sultan Abdul Samad building which has both Victorian and Moorish overtones. The tourist magnet that is the Petronas towers is a wonderful example of the new Malaysia. It is a great place to see Kuala Lumpur in its entirety. In between the two towers is the massive Suriya KLCC mall before you go back to rest in your Kuala Lumpur hotel.

One of the most interesting adventures to be had is in Jalan Petaling, a central street of Chinatown. Petaling reflects the oriental culture and heritage of Chinese immigrants. Chinatown is mostly known for the many cheap goods that can be procured here, all at the most reasonable prices and which can be haggled down further. But beyond this, Chinatown is home to the over hundred year old Chan See Shu Yuen Temple. The temple is an excellent example of Chinese architecture of its time. Also in Chinatown is the Kuan Ti Taoist temple which is dedicated to the Chinese god of war and literature. Jalan Petaling comes to life at night with its row upon row of street vendors selling delicious food and the endless stalls all intent on selling the wandering tourist a never to be missed bargain. Little India is also a place not to be missed. Entering it immediately transports you to an Indian locale, redolent with curry and people wearing bright and vividly colored clothes. It is the best place to have an Indian meal and go back to rest in one of the beautiful Kuala Lumpur hotels.

Kuala Lumrur has the symptoms of every major city in the world, overcrowded streets with a rush hour that can leave you stranded at a place for hours. However, there are ways to work around the transport system of Kuala Lumpur saving you time as well as money. You might have to catch a ride on the monorail which is quite frequent and prompt, while you can hail a cab towards the last leg of your journey or choose to walk instead. Kuala Lumpur is one big city and is not the place you would want to waste time trying to figure out your way around from your tranquil Kuala Lumpur hotel. The city has recently completed the first phase of its new public transport network which though might seem ambitious, it certainly has the capacity to ease up the city’s traffic and make travel more convenient and efficient.
